As a starting point for every hat, or collection of hats, I choose a theme or a specific material and then find myself inspired by a diverse range of things. It could be anything from Christmas decorations and origami to architecture and folklore. The idioms of the 1920´s, 30’s and 40’s have however a very special appeal to me. Apart from the characteristic colours and shapes of the interwar period, I am intrigued by its attention for detail. I also have a weakness for the elegance and glamour of that era and I am fascinated by old Hollywood starlets like Jean Harlow, Marlene Dietrich and Rita Hayworth. Nevertheless, Elsa Schiaparelli is my fashion icon with her slightly surreal creations.
